“Bad Hair”. I used to believe I had bad hair. I was frustrated on how hard it was to comb my hair, how easy it was to break off, and kept asking myself why my hair would not retain moisture. I thought the easy solution to this was to wear braids, weaves, wigs, color and or perm my hair. Well, I did all the above and did not realize I was causing more damage to my hair although I was getting a temporary outside cover up solution. I thought for me to look beautiful and accepted by others, I had to do these things.

When my daughter started school, she faced teasing because her hair looked different from her peers. I wanted to help, so I added braiding hair to make her hair appear longer and more polished. However, the products I used led to dryness, brittleness, and stunted growth. One day, my 5-year-old daughter insisted on adding hair extensions before leaving the house. That moment was a wake-up call for me. I realized it was time to stop hiding and embrace our natural beauty. My mission became clear: not only should I love my natural hair, but I must also teach my daughter to appreciate hers.

Drawing on my 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, I decided to research and develop hair care products for myself and my daughter. I discovered the importance of treating the scalp and hair holistically.
